Our Timber Suppliers Environmental Policy:
We source only the best quality timber and make every effort to ensure it originates from environmentally managed woodlands where sustainability is a prime concern.
We have a vested interest in the work that ensures the health and sustainability of the World’s forests. To put it simply without trees we would have no business.
All wood and wood-based products must be legally harvested.
Wood must be harvested without violation of traditional and civic rights.
Sourcing from areas where high conservation values are threatened by management activities will be avoided.
Only wood from forest NOT being converted to plantation or non-forest use is acceptable.
Wood from genetically modified trees will not be accepted.
Species listed in Appendices ll of CITIES are not acceptable. Unless subject to CITIES approval.
If for any reason a source is considered controversial then we will not trade with that source.
Our aim is to minimise the risk of inadvertently purchasing from any doubtful source.
Our Environmental Ethos:
We, at Caldew Kitchens are very keen to reduce and recycle waste. Anything that can be recycled is recycled by our waste management supplier.
We collect all our sawdust and shavings which then make Briquettes for wood burning stoves and the very small pieces of off cut timber that can not be used are then again used for Kindling.
We reuse much of our plastic packaging several times instead of creating more.
We use Electricity from renewable sources.
